Flexible Working ExtendedMonday 12th May 2008
An announcement was made this week which will enable more parents to reap the benefits of flexible working.
Under current rules only those with children under six and those whose children are disabled have the right to request flexible working but this has now been extended to all those with children under 16.
The ruling is said to affect over 4.5 million parents and although it has been welcomed by some organisations who believe that flexible working is a good way to get the best out of busy parents many small businesses are worried about the financial impact it may have on their firms.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown has backed the decision and believes it will be welcomed by many employers.
