Barclaycard Goes Green

Elizabeth Chambers Barclaycard Chief Marketing Officer announced plans this week to launch a new card due to become available in summer 2007 which will help their customers to ‘go green’.
Research from the Barclaycard team who surveyed over 1200 people shows that 1 in 8 think that climate change is a pressing issue with 74% of customers wishing to benefit from incentives to buy ‘green’.
The new green card from Barclaycard will provide the incentives customers want by enabling customers to donate to green causes and reduce carbon emissions through purchases. Barclaycard expect the card to be well received by consumers and hope to make the card a global feature over time.
Barclaycard are the first major creditor to unveil plans for a ‘green’ card yet in the today’s society of increasing environmental awareness are unlikely to be the last.
