Barclaycard To Travel

Monday 10th September 2007

Barclaycard launched a new concept in Credit Cards this week in Canary Wharf, London. The card is inspired by the Oyster card a notion coined by Transport for London and a regular feature in the wallets of most commuters in the capital.

The card has been called the ‘Onepulse’ and will allow uses to purchase items up to the value of £10 without needing to sign for transactions or enter a pin number. For transactions over £10 users will be required to enter a pin number as with a normal credit or debit card.

The new cards will be tried out in London via contactless readers operated by TranSys the company who currently handle Oyster transactions in the UK.

Barclaycard were keen to stress during the launch that they do not expect the new card to increase levels of fraud as once reported stolen the Onepulse will no longer be accepted for contactless transactions.
