Flight prices are getting cheaper and cheaper, and going abroad is no longer as expensive as it once was. Buying a cheap flight online has also become an incredibly popular way to buy a flight, mainly because it cuts out commission that usually has to be paid at a travel agents.
Many of the flights available online tend to be ‘no-frills’ flights, quite literally you will be paying for your flight. It is quite common that many airlines offering a cheap flight will not include food in the price. So either have some money to buy refreshments on the plane or make sure that you have eaten before you go. Other airlines are now also charging for extra luggage. The idea is to make every passenger use their hand luggage allowance to its maximum capacity before putting suitcases in the hold. It is definitely worth checking whether the airline you are traveling with has this as an added cost as it could increase the amount you are spending by a considerable amount. It is also a good thing to check how much luggage you are able to take on to the plane in total as anything over the allowed weight will again increase the price of your flight.
When booking a cheap flight online, be careful of the added extra of airport tax. Many airlines will show the price of the flights before airport tax so when you reach the total cost of the flight it will often be a lot more than expected. In some cases, the cost of the flight is actually a lot cheaper than the airport tax. Whilst this might not increase the price to great heights, it should be considered when searching for flights as some airlines will show the price including tax and some will show it without.
Some of the cheapest flights to be found may often seem like a bargain but the hours at which the cheapest flights fly can often be antisocial. Weekends also tend to be a lot more expensive as they are more popular times to fly. If you don’t mind flying either very early in the morning or very late at night during the week and are able to be flexible then finding a flight at the cheapest price will not be difficult.
