Fall in Music Sales
Friday 25th January 2008 Global music sales fell by 10% last year new figures from The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry show.
The figures from the company show that despite downloading figures rising by 40% the overall amount of music being sold has decreased significantly.
Music piracy is being blamed for this fall in sales and there has been call within the industry for internet providers to disconnect those people who repeatedly download music from illegal sources.
A judge in Belgium took this action and forced Tiscalli to suspend the internet of those who continuously used file sharing methods.
A plea has been made for similar action to be taken in other countries in order to combat illegal downloads.
