Music to Their Ears

Monday 14th April 2008

A charity shop in Tavistock has this month received a collection of classical records thought to be worth a record £25,000.

The donation was given to the Oxfam store in the city by a woman in her 50’s who wished to remain anonymous. The collection which was owned by her husband is believed to be the largest and most valuable donation of music received by a charity shop to date.

Last week the first few records from the collection went on sale ranging in price from £1.50 to £1.99 however if locals fail to purchase the items they will then be sold online.

All ranges of classical music are covered by the collection and all money raised will of course go to help those in need in helping to contribute to the £5m currently raised by Oxfam through music sales each year.
