The South of France
With warm weather, good food, places of historic interest and multiple opportunities to shop, it is little wonder that the South of France is becoming more and more popular with holiday makers. The fact that it is a part of Europe means that cheap flights really are not hard to come across and many can be found simply by clicking here. Whether you are looking to relax with the sophisticated crowds of the Riviera or explore the more rugged landscapes of the Ardeche, the South of France has something to offer all types of visitor.
The Ardeche is most well known for its gorges, something that makes it an ideal spot for water based activities such as canoeing and rafting. Climbing, hiking and mountain biking are also popular with visitors and locals alike in this area. The 30km stretch of limestone canyon offers a stunning view as well. Marseille, the second biggest city in France, has seen interest in it increase over the past few years and has now become a fashionable scene for all aspects of the arts as well as sport and fashion. The Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde and the Cathedral Museum are also points of historic interest. Notoriously expensive Cannes doesn’t translate as ‘star’ for nothing. In this city you get what you pay for so it is guaranteed that the quality of restaurants and entertainment will be of very high quality. Pursuing pleasure is the name of the game in this elaborate but hugely entertaining city. Nice, once the hot-spot of France is not so popular now but still an engaging place to visit with a lot on offer. As well as more museums than many other places in France, the old town of Nice offers a cheaper opportunity to eat out, making it ideal for those traveling on a budget.
No matter where you want to go in the South of France, Nice International Airport is the most central place to catch a flight to. The best time to go is in June, July and August when the sun is hottest. That said, the rest of the year continues to remain sunny with the coldest temperatures never really dropping below 7 degrees Celsius in the winter.
