Credit Card The North South Credit Divide

Wednesday 25th April 2007

A new report published this week has highlighted the North South divide that separates and highlights our countries credit card and savings diversity.

The report provided by the data analysts CDMS shows that those in the North including Geordies, Liverpudlians and Glaswegians have the worst attitude when it comes to paying off credit card debts with a mere 1 in 6 Scouser never paying off more than the interest added to their debt. CDMS states that those in these Northern cities are "endemic accumulators of credit card debt".

The report also shows that those in Norwich, Nottingham, Edinburgh and London are the best at paying back their credit card debt with the people of Norwich being the countries top savers.

Due to the findings of the report Ian Hubbard of CDMS has spoken of the "stark contrast between usage of rolling credit card debt in the more northern parts of the UK, compared with the southern swathe".
