Third Party Insurance
Third party insurance is the lowest level of cover available in the UK and is the minimum amount of insurance that is required by law. Third party insurance basically protects you for liability that you and your car might cause to other people or other people's property.
Third party car insurance essentially covers you for liability in four main areas: for injuries to other people, including passengers, for damage to property belonging to others, of passengers who have caused accidents, and liability caused by the use of a caravan or trailer that is attached to the insured car.
Third party insurance is often preferred by people who drive vehicles that are not worth very much. This is because the maximum amount that would be paid out by a more extensive insurance policy would not warrant the payment of the higher premiums.
As every car insurance policy is different we have here tried only to give a general guide to third party car insurance. Check your policy for precise details of exactly what extent your insurance policy protects you.
